Guitare Larrivée
Pour trouver la guitare gaucher « de mes rêves », je suis allé directement à Paris chez « California Gaucher ». J’ai ainsi essayé plusieurs guitares de prestige dont une a particulièrement attiré mon attention : une Larrivée . Un mélange de chaleur et de brillance, une puissance dans le son, un équilibre entre les basses et les aiguës rarement rencontrés . Mon choix était fait ! Nous avons ensuite discuté avec Jean Larrivée de mes attentes, choisi le bois et le système d’amplification sur le modèle OM-09. Cette guitare est une véritable source d’énergie et d’inspiration !
To be able to find the left handed guitar « of my dreams », I directly went to «California Gaucher» in Paris . I tried several prestigious guitars but only one attracted my attention: a Larrivée . A mix of warmth and brightness of tone, a powerful sound, a balance between the bass and the high-pitched tones rarely encountered. My choice was done! We then discussed with Jean about my expectations, we chose the type of wood and we chose the model OM-09 amplifier system. This guitar is a true source of energy and inspiration !

Banjo Hugo Valcke
Trouver un très bon banjo gaucher n’est pas toujours évident, surtout en Belgique. C’est un luthier extraordinaire, Hugo Valcke de Courtrai, qui a construit le mien, sur mesure tant au niveau de l’esthétique que du son. Bill Keith a lui réuni toutes les parties métalliques et les mécaniques bien sûr! Les Keith tuners sont la Rolls des mécaniques! Tant pour la facilité de l’accordage que pour la stabilité ; Ce n’est pas tout: pour les novices, leur système de blocage permet d’évoluer avec précision entre 2 notes différentes tout en jouant.
Le résultat est impressionnant: le parfait compromis entre une bonne « attaque » pour un jeu Bluegrass traditionnel et un son chaud et doux pour les morceaux de style plus classique ou jazzy.

To find an excellent left handed banjo in Belgium is not easy. I met an extraordinary string instrument maker, Hugo Valcke, in Courtrai , he built mine up, he customized it with regard to the esthetic and the sound. Bill Keith provided all the metallic parts and the tuners of course! The Keith tuners are the Rolls Royce of the mechanic! As much for the tuning facility as for the stability; This is not all: for the beginners, their blocking system allows to maneuver with high precision between 2 different notes while playing. The result is quite impressive: the perfect compromise between a good « attack » for a traditional Bluegrass play and a warm and smooth sound for the more classical or jazzy style of music.

Les cordes « Elixir » offrent une brillance, un équilibre dans le son et une longévité que je n’avais encore jamais rencontré ! J’ai aussi trouvé le tirant idéal pour la guitare picking avec le jeu « Custom Light ».
The « Elixir » strings offer a shine, a balance in the sound and a longevity which I never met before ! I also found the ideal gauge for the finger picking guitar with the « custom light »set.
